NBSC-CESD LAUNCHES SECOND EPISODE OF “PEACE, DECODED” TALK SERIES
The Kalinaw Alang sa Tanan Project of Northern Bukidnon State College’s Community Extension Services Division (NBSC-CESD) successfully launched the second episode of its “Peace, Decoded” Talk Series on April 29, 2026, at the NBSC Covered Court, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to peace education and community engagement.
The activity formed part of PASUNDAYAG 2026, a themed event titled “Hibla ng Kultura: Empowering Learners in Celebrating Culture Through Arts and Sports,” organized by the Department of General Education and Curricula (DGEC). Within this setting, the talk series served as a platform for advancing peace advocacy through the cultural context of Northern Bukidnon.
Aligned with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) policies—specifically CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 1, series of 2019, and CMO No. 42, series of 2021—the initiative supports the integration of peace studies into higher education curricula, particularly within the social sciences, and promotes a culture of peace among learners.
The session featured Cpl. John Paul G. Mancawan (Inf) PA, Non-Commissioned Officer for Public Affairs, OG7, 52nd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army, as resource speaker. He highlighted three key dimensions of peace reflected in the theme: dance, sports, and music, emphasizing their role in fostering unity and understanding.
Key insights from the session emphasized culture as a powerful tool for peacebuilding, learners as active bearers of culture, and peace as a daily practice rather than a distant goal. The discussion reinforced the message that peace must not only be taught, but actively lived within communities. These ideas naturally align with NBSC’s learning environment, where academic work and community involvement continue to reinforce each other in shaping more engaged and socially aware students.
